"Have you heard about 'Operation #EFAD' yet?"

"Author Matthew Bracken is going to make copies of his novel 'Enemies Foreign and Domestic' available starting [3/1] for free Kindle download. It's part of a larger project ... to help spread the word about not just his book, but as an actual tool to put federal officials and the 'mainstream media' on notice that their actions will be remembered, particularly the corruption of and complicity with Fast and Furious 'gunwalking,' and that there stands a reserve of patriotic Americans committed to guarding against growing corruption and tyranny, and to spreading the truth." ...

"The late Robert Boatman died in 2009. But, before he did, he wrote some powerful words on guns, and the use and carrying thereof. His The Constitutional Right and Social Obligation to Carry a Gun is a stinging indictment of politicians and media supporters who try to limit the carrying of guns, and a rebuke to those Americans who shirk their duty to their family and community. Boatman's essay is so powerful, because like Jeff Snyder's A Nation of Cowards: Essays on the Ethics of Gun Control, his arguments are based on natural rights and morality rather than statistics and anecdotes. ..." ...

... "As unforgivably offensive as that claim is, some deeper digging, as was done by the Washington Free Beacon, reveals that Johnson's antipathy to the Second Amendment's Constitutional guarantee of the right of the individual to keep and bear arms goes back far longer than that. In the year 2000, he found it 'quite reasonable' to dismiss the Second Amendment as 'historical trivia' (emphasis added):" ...

"'While it is unlikely that a severely restrictive international gun control treaty could be ratified by two-thirds of the United States Senate, there are many mechanisms by which unratified treaties can work their way into U.S. law. "In this election year, as many as five million eligible voters will lose their right to vote. It’s the result of new nationwide campaigns to limit voting rights. Meanwhile, gun rights and the number of gun owners is growing."

"As the presidential campaign heats up, we expect no issue will be off the table. And as always, the argument over gun rights and gun ownership is sure to fire off some heated debates. It’s an issue discussed time and time again, the sanctity of the constitution and the second amendment sure to be invoked. But when it comes to another amendment, or rather – a few of them – surrounding the very making of a democracy and the right to vote…that discussion is had far less often." ...

"A D.C. Council committee greenlighted a bill on Wednesday that eliminates classroom training and firing range instruction as a prerequisite for registering a gun."

"The legislation approved 3-0 by the Committee on the Judiciary also allows the mayor to act as a federal firearms licensee to oversee the transfer of out-of-state handguns to D.C. residents, if there is no one to fill the role. Currently there is only one licensee in the District, Charles Sykes Jr., who operates out of the Metropolitan Police Department’s headquarters." ...

"Almost four years after the U.S. Supreme Court threw out the District's strict handgun ban, the city is still trying to remove administrative restrictions that critics say make it too hard to register handguns in the home."

"In June 2008, the Supreme Court threw out the city's ban that had been in place since 1977, saying it violated the Constitution's Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms...."

"Despite the clear high court ruling, the District still enacted a series of administrative steps restricting how a handgun could be licensed, what training an owner needs, and when or where the guns had to be tested and reregistered." ...

"The DC City Council’s Committee on the Judiciary has just issued a 27-page 'Report on Bill 19-614, 'Firearms Amendment Act of 2012,' which purports to liberalize the city’s notoriously draconian firearms registration laws. I haven't had a chance yet to carefully review this report or the complex bill itself, written like most such bills ('replace subsection (b)(ii) with the following language'), but it seems clear from the guarded early language ('Bill 19-614 maintains core aspects of the District's gun control law') that the council is responding to the threat of further litigation, to say nothing of congressional intervention, while at the same time trying to assuage its local gun-control constituency. ..." ...

"The Iowa House of Representatives was scheduled to debate at least two of the pieces of firearms related legislation today. Before debate could begin, however, the Democrats asked for a recess so they could caucus. Speaker of the House Paulsen agreed, and called a recess. What happened next is incredible – the Democrats left the building. I was going to say this is unbelievable or unheard of, but we know that's not the case. Most readers will recall when the same thing happened last year up in Wisconsin." ...

"Things are going from bad to worse in the Oregon legislature."

"Two gun bills moved out of a Senate committee on Tuesday. The first was originally legislation to protect the privacy of concealed handgun license (CHL) records. That bill passed only after it was weakened by anti-gun Judiciary Chairman Sen. Floyd Prozanski."

"It’s no secret that we here at TTAG aren’t exactly fans of Red Jacket’s show. It’s actually such a non-secret that the Discovery press people have made their displeasure known to this writer. But being eternal optimists we had hope that the show would turn itself around and actually be interesting to gun people as well as the uninitiated masses. Unfortunately a press release ahead of tonight’s season premiere seems to have sunk that hope for another season, indicating in a groundhog-esque manner 4 more episodes of bad ideas, useless projects and downright dangerous practices." ...
